E Squared’s board represents a dedicated group of experienced leaders across various sectors. Our trustees guide the organisation’s mission and strategy.

Zipho Sikhakhane

Trustee

Zipho Sikhakhane is CEO and Founder of EMZ Advisory which provides business and leadership solutions for medium to large corporations that have a national, continental and global economic footprint. She sits on several boards and was appointed to the E squared board of trustees in May 2019. Zipho was the first black South African to complete an MBA at Stanford University, she has a Bachelor of Business Science with first-class honours from the University of Cape Town and completed leadership courses in Austria, China, Czech Republic, Russia, and South Africa. In 2016 she received the Outstanding Young Achiever Award from UNESCO Center for Global Education. Zipho has held positions in industry-leading corporations worldwide as International Project Director for Inditex Zara (Spain); Customer Strategy Manager for Edcon Retail Group and management consultant at McKinsey. Zipho invests in entrepreneurs across Africa and has worked on 6 continents and travelled to over 30 countries, bringing a global perspective to local opportunities and challenges.

Nazeem Martin

Trustee

Nazeem is a founding member and Chairman of the Wallflower Group. He also served as Deputy Director-General at the National Department of Public Works in Nelson Mandela’s government. Nazeem has a BA and a Higher Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Town, and a Master of Urban Planning from the City University of New York. He also completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.

Ngalaah Chuphi

Trustee

Ngalaah leads Ethos’ sub-Saharan Africa strategy and until very recently, he headed up the firm’s investor relations activities. His portfolio activities have been supported by over ten years of prior management consulting and project finance experience in several countries. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University in Kingston, Canada and an MBA in Finance from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles.

Khumo Morolo

Chairperson

Khumo was appointed to the board of trustees and to the board of Allan Gray Proprietary Limited as a non-executive director in 2012. She has extensive experience in the IT, engineering, electricity generation and projects environments. She was one of the founding shareholders of Torre Technologies. Khumo hold an M.Eng in Engineering Management from the University of Pretoria and a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand.

Malik Fal

Trustee

Malik Fal is a Franco-Senegalese professional based in Johannesburg since 2003 with his South African family. He is a broadly-exposed business leader having grown up in Francophone Africa, schooled in Europe, and trained in the US (Babson College & Harvard). 

Malik built a strong business foundation in the early stages of his career; through roles in Operations (PepsiCo for 6 years) and Strategy (Monitor Group for 8 years). Later, Malik got the opportunity to extend his experience in the tech investment space with a series of Pan-African roles at Microsoft (Africa COO), Endeavor (South Africa MD), Omidyar Network (Africa MD), and now E Squared (Board of Trustees and executive role). Malik has a passion for ‘beneficial knowledge’ and as such has been involved in various related initiatives; he co-authored a book of essays entitled “In the River They Swim” on enterprise solutions to poverty, was part-time faculty for more than five years for Harvard’s ‘Making Markets Work’ Africa executive program, and taught MBA elective modules on Strategy and Competitiveness at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). 

 

Anthony Farr

Trustee

Anthony Farr is CEO of Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropy Africa, responsible for the execution of the Gray family philanthropy across the continent. Previously, he was the founding CEO of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation. Prior to this Anthony co-founded the Starfish Greathearts Foundation in 2001. He is qualified as a CA (SA) and Chartered Financial Analyst.
