E Squared Investments is pleased to announce Gladwyn Leeuw as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 September 2023. Gladwyn takes over from Malik Fal, who will return to assume his role as Trustee and Board member after he had adeptly stepped in as CEO in 2019.
Gladwyn’s journey with E Squared Investments began in 2022 when he assumed the role of Chief Investment Officer and built an investment team that has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the investment ecosystem, risk management, market trends and opportunities that translated into notable portfolio growth.
Prior to joining E Squared Investments, Gladwyn served as a General Partner at Kingson Capital, a South African-based Venture Capital investment firm, where he led Post-investment Management. His professional journey started as an Investment Manager at Anglo American’s Enterprise and Supplier Development arm, Zimele. He further honed his skills and expertise as a key member of the Senior Executive team at CCI South Africa, one of South Africa’s largest international BPOs. In addition, he lectured at Wits University and founded a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) lending platform amongst other entrepreneurial activities.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Gladwyn Leeuw stated, “I am deeply humbled and invigorated to take the helm as CEO of E Squared Investments. As the world advances and necessity stimulates invention at a more rapid rate than ever before, we reaffirm our commitment to realising the late Allan Gray’s vision of empowering responsible entrepreneurs, fostering economic growth, and alleviating poverty across our continent. We will focus on creating sustainable value for all stakeholders, building on the strong foundation laid by my predecessor.”
Gladwyn holds a Master of Management degree in Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management in the field of Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Studies and International Relations from Wits Business School and Wits University respectively. His academic accomplishments reflect his dedication to continuous learning and his commitment to excellence in all endeavours.
