Khula! explores export opportunities

Matthew Piper and Karidas Tshintsholo attend Fruit Logistica in Berlin in February 2023 to explore the agri-export opportunities.

Khula! travelled to Berlin in February to attend the Fruit Logistica exhibition to take advantage of the export-facilitation opportunities available. The team has been exploring potential growth in exports, following a successful pilot where they traded roughly R2.5m worth of produce. Fruit Logistica is one of the largest global fresh produce exhibitions, providing an ideal platform for networking and business development. The team is using the event to explore the potential of their fresh produce system for exports, which is a crucial part of their growth strategy. Karidas Tshintsholo is a member of the Southern Africa Council of the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) and both he and co-founder Matthew Piper are striving to develop relationships with local exporters and foreign importers in order to test different engagement approaches. The focus on export facilitation is a key avenue for growth in 2023.

Khula is a Fellow-led and E2 investee business founded by Matthew Piper and Karidas Tshintsholo that uses mobile technology to connect and grow emerging small-scale farmers.
